Back in 2009, fresh out of Lakehead University with a Master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Guo Li, affectionately known to all as Gordie, had a simple plan: fix a friend’s Blackberry. That single repair, done from the trunk of his car in a university parking lot, was the humble beginning of what would become a cornerstone of the Thunder Bay tech community.

Gordie, originally from Japan, fell in love with the spirit of Thunder Bay during his studies. Despite plans to move to larger cities like Toronto or Vancouver, the warmth and camaraderie of the local community convinced him to stay. It was this love for the community that transformed a makeshift mobile repair service into Gordie’s Electronics Repair, a local hub for tech needs, big and small.

Over the years, Gordie’s has evolved, expanding from cellphones to all kinds of electronic gadgets, but our core values have remained unchanged. We’re all about trust, quality, and a personal touch. The tools used on that first Blackberry repair are displayed in our shop, a testament to our journey and the sentimental path we’ve traveled.
